Coach Sachiko
As a Chess Coach for Elementary Schools in the Houston area, Sachiko Joshua Franklin has expertise with beginner to intermediate players. Sachiko has been playing Chess for 5 years, has reached a 2100 ELO on chess.com, and is currently studying to become a National Master.
Sachiko is working on a Bachelors degree in Mathematics at Arizona State University online. Sachiko developed a passion for chess during physical injury rehabilitation from playing competitive soccer and found many similarities between soccer and chess. Both chess and soccer require you to create a plan, predict your opponents’ moves, and fight til the game is over. Chess embodies 'The Art of War.’ Sachiko's has won cash prize in Houston tournaments, most notably, the 2026 Houston Chess Festival.
Sachiko enjoys teaching fun, aggressive chess while also fixing bad habits and engaging with students to understand their specifics needs for development. Most importantly, Sachiko believes players should fun a priority in their chess journey.
