Topic Purpose

When students learn an defense that they always use, they are better prepared for tournaments. They become familiar with the tactics and strategies in the position related to their opening and are less likely to  get into a bad position from the opening. It gives them an advantage against better players. This series teaches the Sicilian Dragon Defense and can be played against White’s opening move of e4.

     Lesson 1 learning objectives

• Teaches the Classical Variation of the Sicilian Dragon Defense.

    Lesson 2 learning objectives

• Teaches the Yugoslav Variation of the Sicilian Dragon Defense.

     Lesson 3 learning objectives

• Teaches the Levenfish Variation of the Sicilian Dragon Defense.

     Lesson 4 learning objectives

•   Reviews concepts of the Sicilian Dragon Defense with multiple games, including two from Magnus Carlsen.
